Invicta Plastics

Notes

Invicta Plastics is an Oadby (Leics) based educational supplier and plastic moulder. They produced the basic set of play coins in the early 1970s, marked 'Decimal Token Coin' with the same inscription on each side. The 20p and £1 coins were issued later (1982/3) and Invicta dropped the 'Decimal' from these values. When the new smaller 5 and 10p coins were issued in 1990/2, the Invicta versions had a reverse like the currency.
The 1p and 2p are known with a reverse marked 'play money' - see GBR 2700
For varieties, see the individual coins.
Sets were sold carded, also under Young Minds, Postman Pat, Pop to the Shops and other labels.
